Why stay at Esprit d'un Moment ?

Is Esprit d'un Moment accommodation intended solely for wellness stays?

No.
You can simply come to spend a few days in Burgundy, discover Nolay, Beaune, the vineyards and the region.
But I also like to welcome people who wish to take advantage of their stay to slow down, rest and take some time for themselves.
The two can perfectly blend together.

What differentiates Esprit d'un Moment from a hotel?

Esprit d'un Moment is a guest house, and I value that distinction.
You are staying in an old, very picturesque house where I have lived for over twenty years. It has its own history, its old stones, its flowery courtyard and its details as proof of its authenticity.
Unlike a hotel, breakfast is included. You have your own space on the floor where the bedrooms are located and, in addition, you have access to a fully equipped kitchen, shared by the 3 bedrooms.

Is this a suitable place if I'm looking for peace and quiet?

Yes.
The house is usually quiet, and Nolay is a village of manageable size. The small road in front of the rooms sees a few tractors and cars belonging to those going to work on weekday mornings. During the grape harvest, the traffic is often heavier. It's the charm of a wine-growing village that produces Haute Côtes de Beaune wines with a delicious taste and a more affordable price. 😉

What does an "authentic" stay mean to you?

It is not about artificially creating a setting or an experience.
The house is an old residence, part of which was a tannery in the 18th century. The restoration was carried out with respect for the original materials.
For me, authenticity also means welcoming simply and humanely the people who choose to come into my home, whether they come from Burgundy or the other side of the world.

Can I come simply to rest?

Yes.
It's not necessary to fill your days with sightseeing. You might also want to sleep, read, take a walk, take your time, or simply make no plans.
Numerous common areas, both indoors and outdoors, allow you to relax without feeling obliged to stay locked in your room.
A stay can also serve that purpose.

Can one take advantage of their stay to take better care of themselves?

Yes,
if you feel like it.
My work as a therapist, meditation teacher, and massage therapist runs alongside the bed and breakfast. This gives Esprit d'un Moment an added special quality for those who wish to take some time for themselves during their stay.
But nothing is mandatory: you can perfectly well stay here without participating in any of these activities.

Do you offer stays specifically dedicated to well-being?

Yes.
I propose in particular

  • A weekend of at least two nights including a 45-minute back massage for each person, a guided meditation, a workshop on breathing, sleep, brain function and stress with discussions and documents.
This stay can last for 1 week and can be customized.

  • A weekend workshop of at least two nights, depending on dates and availability, for all those who wish to better understand their reactions, their overwhelming emotions, the real and deep reasons for what stresses them and certain behaviors that sometimes seem to escape them, and thus, to know how to relax deeply.
For two days, I explain to you simply how our brain works, why stress is triggered, what it produces in our body and how certain patterns can become established over time.
You are experiencing deep breathing and guided secular meditation.
This weekend is full of activities including documents, videos, experimentation, hands-on practice, and discussions. The primary objective is understanding.
Because you cannot permanently change a system you do not understand.
This weekend can be customized for a minimum of 3 people. You will receive a 15% discount on the room price.

Do you need to already practice meditation to choose this type of stay?

    No.
Meditation can be discovered here. I teach it simply with the aim that everyone can understand the benefits of this practice and why it actually makes us feel good, and become independent in their practice.

Can we come as a couple or family without specifically seeking a relaxing stay?

    Of course.
I welcome couples, single people, families and travellers from many countries. Esprit d'un Moment remains first and foremost a guest house.
Seeking peace, having your needs heard, or discovering my activities is an additional possibility, not a requirement for coming. 😊

What type of traveler generally feels comfortable here?

People who appreciate old houses, authenticity, places with history, a certain simplicity and a personal and human welcome should feel at home.

And if you are also looking to slow down a bit, find some calm or simply give yourself some time, the house is naturally suited to that.

Is it a place where one can also learn and experiment?

    Yes, if you wish.
This is probably one of the distinctive features of Esprit d'un Moment:
You can come here to visit Burgundy and simply leave with beautiful holiday memories.
You can also take advantage of your stay to receive a massage, experience a tailor-made workshop on breathing, sleep and the reality of stress, or discover meditation.
Everyone comes looking for what they need.

Can children and teenagers participate in wellness activities?

Yes,
Children are welcome at Esprit d'un Moment!
Massages, breathing workshops and secular meditation sessions can be adapted to their age, provided they are voluntary and accompanied by a parent.

Here are some activities suitable for younger children:

  • Wellness back massage: offered to children and adults alike, with a massage adapted to each individual's age, needs, and comfort. For minors, parental and child consent are required. The massage can be stopped at any time, as soon as the need arises.

  • Breathing workshop: an exploration of how breathing and the diaphragm work, with simple exercises adapted to the child's age.

  • Secular meditation workshop: an introduction accessible to children who wish to participate, to learn to focus their attention on something pleasant, develop their concentration and give more space to their imagination. Better understand and experience emotions.

And what about the weekend workshops on chronic stress?

These two-day courses are reserved for people aged 18 and over .

They require sustained attention as well as analytical, comprehension and reflection skills regarding sometimes complex mechanisms.

The brains of children and adolescents are still developing, particularly the prefrontal regions which are involved in attention, planning and reasoning.

The illustration below shows how different brain regions gradually continue their maturation between childhood and early adulthood. It also helps us to better understand why attention and thinking skills change with age.

At Esprit d'un Moment, the idea is simple: to allow everyone to discover activities adapted to their age, desires and abilities, without obligation to participate.
